idk what happened, but with recent update(s) my spine keeps crashing. Like it would work for a while, then when i go to load anothe project, it freezes and pens up the crash report window. cant even send it coz its also frozen.

And when it relaunches, the "start auto" is no longer checked. I can load the file fine if i open new instance of spine, but itll crash if i had a project already open.

What version of Spine are you using? You can try reinstalling the Spine launcher, download the latest from your Spine license page.

I have the exact same problem. To open a different project or to reopen the same project I have to restart Spine. Otherwise Spine will crash, and the "Unexpected error" message pops up which can't be clicked.
I'm using a freshly installed 4.0.61 Enterprise.

Here it is. All I did was start Spine, load a project, and (without doing anything else) load the same project again through the "Recent Projects" menu.

Thanks! Unfortunately there was an error while Spine was trying to record the error to the log, making it difficult to see what went wrong from the log. That's pretty rare!

In 4.0.61, I'm able to open a project, then the same from the recent projects menu. There may be something happening slightly different on your computer. You could try to delete your Spine user folder (or move it elsewhere), which will reset your Spine settings to their defaults. You'll need to enter your activation code again.
Spine Troubleshooting: User files

Are you running any anti-virus or anti-malware software? Another program modifying Spine could cause a problem similar to what your log shows.

Resetting settings to default worked. The culprit seems to be the "Interface animations" setting. As soon as that is disabled I can't reload projects any more.

Aha! That is a great find, thank you. We've fixed the problem in 4.0.62. Sorry for the trouble!

Same happens to me thankfully I found this post, enabling interface animation back, fixed the problem.

Turning off animations in an animation tool is a crime. You've been bad and need to be punished! (kidding, we need to release the fix ASAP)
