  • DISTURBING THE VERSE - zero-gravity fighter!

Hey Yall! I'm developing a fighter with a small team. Its very early in development, we are finishing up a prototype with one character. More characters are on the way (we hope to launch with at least 8 characters).

Here's the next character Nancy!

Here's a vid showing the setup in Spine

Oh boy, a winged fighting game! Nate's going to love this. Looks great!

Oh my god! the animations are really amazing! I really would love to learn how to animate the first character turning around on those kicks! Amazing! 😉

@alcyongames I started by creating a turnaround with drawings for the character from 5 different angles, then I just switched out the various pieces.

I started working on Nancy's attacks! Check it:

Hello

I really liked those animations especially this where your character kicks and rotates. I am interested in, did u use one texture and manipulated it when rotating or textures were dissapearing at some key frames and other started to be visible and vice versa? : )

I drew the character from multiple angles so I could switch between drawings. I also used free form deformation.
[note: some body parts were reused for multiple angles to save drawing time. I.E. the right leg in the quarter front view was reused for the side view, the right arm from the quarter back view could be reused in the back view, etc.]

The prototype is now up for sale on Itch.io! Early bird special: you can support the devs and get access to alpha+beta+final game and other goodies!

Thank you, You answered with a vengeance! 🙂
I got some new knowledge about usage some tricks 😉

Started working on another character: GERZIL

Gerzil is a weird cycloptic alien with some bug-like quali[/youtube]ties. I tried not to borrow too many elements from HR Giger but some of his influence definitely crept in. As for the movement, I was going for creepy and erratic.

Weapons:

  1. Retractible Spikes
    Bodily Fluids
    Parasites

Looks great! How'd you get that "ghosting" effect on the ultimate looking attack? Is that a frame-by-frame?

That's just the built-in ghosting in the Spine editor. We have yet to implement that in Unity :/

We changed the name of the game! Also Kai Kennedy (Beowulf in Skullgirls) is doing the voice of the announcer!

A new fighter enters the ring!
